Heading Back to Hogwarts

Today is the day that the Hogwarts Express leaves London and embarks on its journey to Hogwarts. Potterheads around the world will be rejoicing, and taking a trip back to the wonderful world of Harry Potter.

I’ll be celebrating by listening to a Harry Potter audiobook and drinking out of my new Harry Potter water bottle.

How will you be celebrating the journey back to Hogwarts? Let me know in the comments!

Opinions on Midnight Sun by Stephanie Meyer

Midnight Sun has been out for a while now and I have questions for those of you who have read it. As someone who read the Twilight series during the hype, and didn’t completely hate it, I’m curious as to whether it is worth the read or not? Does Edward’s version expand on the events that take place? Or is this just another cash grab?

While I don’t entirely hate the Twilight saga, I don’t think it was at all deserving of the ridiculous hype it received. I had a friend who was completely obsessed with this series, shoot I even had a Taylor Lautner poster in my room (only because it was free). But, this was a story that is low on my list of books that I enjoyed, and it definitely doesn’t have the re-readability factor, at least for me. But, if I were to read it, would it be a worthy read?

As an old enemy resurfaces more powerful than ever, Nor will have to keep the kingdom from falling apart with the help of Prince Talin and Nor’s twin sister, Zadie. Have you heard of ‘Words on Bathroom Walls’ by Julia Walton?

So, somehow this book completely flew under my radar. It’s been out since 2017! It’s going to be a movie and the only reason I know it’s based on a book is because of the trailer!

Here’s a description:

Fans of More Happy Than Not and The Perks of Being a Wallflower will cheer for Adam in this uplifting and surprisingly funny story of a boy living with schizophrenia.

When you can’t trust your mind, trust your heart.

Adam is a pretty regular teen, except he’s navigating high school life while living with paranoid schizophrenia. His hallucinations include a cast of characters that range from the good (beautiful Rebecca) to the bad (angry Mob Boss) to the just plain weird (polite naked guy).
An experimental drug promises to help him hide his illness from the world.

When Adam meets Maya, a fiercely intelligent girl, he desperately wants to be the normal, great guy that she thinks he is. But as the miracle drug begins to fail, how long can he keep this secret from the girl of his dreams?

I’m not usually a love story kinda girl but this one sound magnificent! The film will feature Charlie Plummer, AnnaSophia Robb, and Taylor Russell, and will be released July 31st. I’d like to get my hands on a copy of the book first, but we will see. Here’s the trailer if you’re interested.

The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones is out now!

The book I have been so impatiently waiting for is finally published! If you’ve been around for a while you’ve likely heard me mention this book before, The Only Good Indians is a book I’ve been anticipating for months. I put my preorder in on June 5th and here I am!

But, I have a book review due on the 16th so I will have to read this one as soon as I’m done 😭

Here is the description:

A tale of revenge, cultural identity, and the cost of breaking from tradition in this latest novel from the Jordan Peele of horror literature, Stephen Graham Jones.

Seamlessly blending classic horror and a dramatic narrative with sharp social commentary, The Only Good Indians follows four American Indian men after a disturbing event from their youth puts them in a desperate struggle for their lives. Tracked by an entity bent on revenge, these childhood friends are helpless as the culture and traditions they left behind catch up to them in a violent, vengeful way.
